A bus driver was stabbed to death after a crazed passenger claimed that he had an affair with his wife.

Leonardo Sebastián Figueroa, 43, was fatally knifed by the masked attacker in Glew, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, on Tuesday. CCTV footage, which the Mirror has chosen not to share, showed the pair exchanging a few words before the suspect, named Calixto de Jesús Ojeda, took out the weapon.

He pulled the knife out of a bag and stabbed him in his side twice before jumping off the moving bus. The injured driver managed to put his feet on the brakes before they crashed. A witness alerted medics straight away after the bloodied attack.

The driver was rushed to hospital but sadly passed away hours later. Ojeda was stopped by a brave witness and was arrested shortly after the attack. Initial reports suggested that Figueroa was attempting to rob the driver before it was alleged that he had an affair with his wife in the past.

Ojeda, 57, has been arrested and charged with murder with aggravating factors. He only found out about the alleged affair recently, its understood. Ojeda and his partner, who is 27 years his junior, married in 2016. The alleged affair happened while they were a couple. Hours before the crime, the 30-year-old wished her husband a happy birthday on social media.

She wrote: “Happy birthday, and I hope everything gets better, that this is just a passing storm. I hope we come back stronger than ever. I love you, and I hope you’ve had a lovely day, my love.” Ojeda’s family was waiting for him at home to celebrate his birthday that night, but he never arrived. Worried about his absence, his wife went to the police station and was told he’d been arrested on suspicion of stabbing a bus driver.

When she learnt the victim’s name, she reportedly broke down in tears and told the police about their alleged backstory. Friends and family have paid emotional tributes following the attack against the bus driver. A friend of Leonardo said: “He spent a lot of time with his family, played football with the kids, and always worked hard.”

And a relative said: “On Tuesday, his son turned 21 and got the worst news – that his father had been killed.” A neighbour told local media: “He was very kind, he always greeted you with respect. We heard from a group in the neighborhood that there was a bus strike.” In response to the incident, the victim’s colleagues decided to halt transport services in protest. However, the company confirmed that all services would resume as normal later in the week. Ojeda remains under investigation.
