Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho is already a target for Chelsea but now has interest from Tottenham, who’ve been rejected by Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel despite agreeing a £50million deal

Tottenham have made a surprise enquiry for Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho, who remains a target for rivals Chelsea.

Garnacho, 20, is available this month, just like virtually all of his team-mates at Old Trafford. United are skirting dangerously close to breaching Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules and Garnacho’s sale would be a healthy boost, even if it means losing his talent on the pitch.

Chelsea emerged as contenders for the Spanish-born Argentina international earlier this month, with Italian giants Napoli also showing interest. Now, the Mail report that Spurs have made contact with United, who are willing to do business at £60million.

The talks come after Tottenham were snubbed by Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel, who’s also a target for United. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy reportedly flew out to Munich for face-to-face talks but the 19-year-old Frenchman rejected them.

As for Garnacho, it’s unclear whether his answer would be different. The winger produced an electric performance after being a half-time substitute in United’s 2-0 win away to FSCB on Thursday, helping them securing direct qualification to the Europa League last 16.

Post-match, manager Ruben Amorim hailed Garnacho’s reaction since being dropped for the Manchester derby in December alongside Marcus Rashford, who’s still not played since. “He changed right away since that game against Manchester City, the way he understands things, he understands that I just want to help him and I just want to win games,” Amorim explained.

“He changed in everything – the approach when I talk to him, the way he recovers, he understands sometimes I’m a different coach and that I’m demanding in my way. “Sometimes it’s hard with the first impact because it’s a different type of coach. He understands 1738360841 that it’s never in a bad way – it’s always for him.

“I think all the merit is for Garnacho. He is improving and we want to continue to improve with Garnacho. On Thursday he understood the position, the moments of playing inside or outside, and the connection with Diogo Dalot is improving a lot.”

Chelsea’s interest appears to come from above boss Enzo Maresca, who said when asked about a move for the ex-Atletico Madrid prospect: “I’m happy with what we have at this moment.

“I said many times, on the right side it’s Pedro [Neto] and Noni [Maduake], left side Jadon [Sancho] and Misha [Mykhailo Mudryk] was with us, now he’s not with us. Tyrqiue [George] is the profile that can help us. In this moment we are okay.”
