TikTok commenters slammed this simple pasta hack. The fettuccine dish is easy to make, but one easy trick by TikTok user creativecookingcouple_nm had pasta purists in total uproar

One TikTok user has created an interesting fettuccine spaghetti hack for people to try, but pasta purists aren’t so sure.

The user creativecookingcouple_nm can be seen putting dry spaghetti into a blender and using the machine to chop it up finely. As she did, she broke up the pasta with her hands to make sure it all fit into the blender, a big no-no for people who follow a strict convention on the Italian staple food. Food historian Francine Segan said to Delish: “However, there is a strict consensus that breaking pasta is a no-no because the length of the pasta enhances the eating experience and aesthetics of the dish.” The TikTok video does reveal that a nice, interesting and easy dish can be made out of food rule-breaking. The social media user even said she learned it in Italy, but it was panned in the comments by people who viewed the clip in horror.

Blended pasta dish

After the spaghetti is blended into a fine paste, crack an an egg into the starchy contents. Mix up the egg the pasta paste to create a dough-like texture and press it together until you have a ball. Add another egg if you need, before rolling out the dough with a rolling pin after covering it with pasta flour. Cut the flat dough to create “fresh” pasta strips, the TikTok user said. Gently place the strips into boiling water and cook for seven minutes. While you are doing that, heat pasta sauce in another pan and add oregano to season. Wait until the pasta is cooked and then drain it. Plate it up and then add your pasta sauce and some cheese if you want to.

“It is the perfect consistency,” the TikTok user said. “It is soft, it tastes exactly like fresh pasta.” But a number of people in the comments of the post slammed the dish. “That is NOT fresh pasta love,” one person wrote. Another said: “This is actually more complicated than it would be to make pasta from scratch.”

One particularly sceptical person said: “So the entire pkg of pasta becomes a meal for one basically? Very cost effective also doesn’t oil prevent the sauce from staying on the noodles?”’ Another person asked: “Why would I grind down pasta just to make pasta, make this make sense!”
