The married McFly star was filmed kissing the Love Island star at a BRIT Award after-party earlier this month, and Danny soon issued a grovelling apology to his model wife Georgia
Danny Jones has made a big change on social media after his Maura Higgins kiss scandal.
The McFly singer, 39, was filmed getting close with the Love Island star, 34, at a BRIT Awards after-party in London earlier this month, and the grainy footage of the kiss exploded on social media.
Danny, who shares son Cooper with wife Georgia, 38, stayed silent on the drama in the days after the tryst, but the Star Girl hitmaker later issued a grovelling apology to his wife with a statement on Instagram.
“Hello everyone. Sorry it’s taken me a while to post this but I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me. I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we’ll continue to deal with this privately,” he wrote.
“I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding and support. See you all soon, Danny.” He shared the emotional statement on his Instagram Story, which expires after 24 hours, and fans quickly spotted the singer had made a big change to his social media accounts.
Not only has Danny deleted some of the comments from his Instagram posts, he’s also removed the video of him and McFly bandmate Tom Fletcher enjoying a glass of bubbly before the BRIT Awards. The clip showed hit author Tom posing with a flute of champagne in a swish hotel room, before Danny confessed he was filming his pal, and the duo erupted into fits of giggles. He’s also taken down a snap of him posing with YouTube star KSI.
He hasn’t revealed why he’s taken down the videos from the night of the BRIT Awards, but he was pictured in London with Georgia looking glum just days after the kiss with Maura. The reality star, who travelled to the Nobu Hotel after her kiss with Danny for more drinks with The Voice judge, has stayed silent on the drama, choosing to upload racy snaps on Instagram instead.
Georgia has also disabled the comments on her Instagram posts, and followers can no longer send her direct messages in reply to her Instagram Stories. Her first post after Danny’s kiss was shared to Instagram with the comments turned off. According to The Sun, the couple are moving forward after crisis talks, with Georgia issuing Danny with a “final warning”.
A friend of the McFly star told the outlet that Danny “wants to draw a line in the sand and move on”, and acknowledged his “actions were incredibly embarrassing”. They added: “He has expressed how much he regrets it. Now is the time to move past it and try and get back to normal.”
