Want to make your iPhone feel a little bit smarter? Google has just announced the release of its clever Gemini app for iPhone.
Apple might be about to push its clever Apple Intelligence upgrade out to millions of smartphones but Google is already offering iPhone fans a smart upgrade for free. The US tech giant has just confirmed that its new Gemini app is now available for iOS devices and that means your iPhone can now access a vast array of very clever features.
“iPhone users can now experience Gemini in a whole new way with our dedicated mobile app,” Google explained.
“In addition to using Gemini through the Google app on iOS or a web browser, iPhone users can enjoy a more streamlined Gemini experience, with easy access to features that help improve learning, creativity and productivity.”
Once installed, Gemini can help you find things in a more conversational way – you can even interrupt the chatty assistant and change your questions mid-sentence without it getting confused.
Gemini will provide custom, step-by-step guidance that adapts to your learning style, and you can even test your knowledge with quizzes that it can generate.
It can create instant and bespoke AI images by simply typing in a description of what you want to see and it will write and edit documents and emails for you to help save time.
Google also promises that its Gemini app seamlessly connects with other services from Google. Thanks to something called Extensions, Gemini can find and show you relevant information from YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, Calendar and more — all within a single conversation.
If you fancy giving it a try, you’ll find the Gemini app on Apple’s App Store.
Don’t forget, Apple is also releasing its own set of smart features soon but you’ll need an iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro to access the update.
Apple Intelligence also offers instant text editing, image creation and a much better Siri. It will also prioritise your inbox and make finding things buried within emails and messages much more seamless.
Speaking about the upcoming changes, Apple’s software chief Craig Federighi said: “This is AI for the rest of us. Personal intelligence you can rely on at work, home and everywhere in between.
“This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter of personal intelligence. Intelligence built for your most personal products: your iPhone, iPad and Mac.
“Intelligence grounded in the things that make you, you and intelligence available to you system-wide so that you can get things down in a way that works for you. We are just getting started and I hope you are as excited as I am for the road ahead.”
And Apple chief executive Tim Cook added: “We’re thrilled to introduce a new chapter in Apple innovation. Apple Intelligence will transform what users can do with our products – and what our products can do for our users.”
